Training and Quality Control

The Division helps develop, manage, implement, document, and provide training in various aspects of public safety for career and volunteer personnel and citizens of Washington County and surrounding jurisdictions.  The training is provided internally as well as through various relationships that include the Maryland Fire Rescue Institute (MFRI), Maryland Institute Emergency Medical Services System (MIEMSS), International Academies of Emergency Dispatch, and other non-governmental training agencies.  The Division maintains accreditations with MIEMSS to provide basic level emergency medical services training and certification.  The Division maintains “Academy Status” agreement with MFRI in order to provide various fire, emergency medical services, and rescue-based programs.
