Americans with Disabilities Act: Information Regarding County Buildings and Parks/Outdoor Facilities

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) sets certain design standards for public infrastructure to maximize accessibility for all citizens.  Public Works is responsible for ensuring that County buildings and parks/outdoor facilities are accessible to all citizens.  

All existing County buildings and parks/outdoor facilities have been inspected to determine if they comply with current ADA accessibility standards.  The Self-Evaluation Survey and Transition Plan documents are posted below.

Public Input

Comments from the public regarding existing citizen accessibility needs are encouraged.  Residents who wish to provide comments can submit a brief description of the barrier to accessibility they currently face to the Washington County ADA Title II Compliance Coordinator either by sending an email to the office, or mailing a letter to:

LIBERAL LEAVE IS IN EFFECT FOR WASHINGTON COUNTY GOVERNMENT

Liberal leave is in effect for all non-essential personal on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, until noon. Essential personnel are expected to fulfill their duties as usual.

The starting time for today’s Board of County Commissioners meeting will be reevaluated at 9:00 am.

For those required to travel, exercise caution on the roadways. If driving is necessary, ensure your vehicle is completely cleared, drive at a reduced speed, practice caution, and avoid crowding or passing plows.
