EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER
Robert R. Redfield, MD | #COVIDStopsWithMe
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Robert Redfield says masks are one of the most powerful weapons we have in the fight against COVID-19. Wearing a mask when you’re in public, combined with social distancing and frequent hand washing, are actions we can all take to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
As a reminder to Washington County residents, there is a statewide masking order that requires face coverings in public spaces of all businesses, and in outdoor public areas when maintaining physical distance is not possible.
Earlier this month, the Joint Information Center (JIC) launched “THIS IS A HERO”, a new public messaging campaign on the importance and impact of wearing a mask around others in the community. To learn more or nominate a local hero visit www.washcoheroes.com.
To protect yourself and others from COVID-19 all citizens are encouraged to continue washing your hands, social distance, wear a mask, get tested, and stay at home when experiencing minor symptoms. Do your part to keep Washington County and the State of Maryland open for business!

Visit www.washcorises.net for constantly updated resources and information to help you reopen your business.
Help Us Continue on Our Path to Reopen Washington County – Please ensure your business and customers continue to follow the recommended CDC guidelines as we reopen businesses and other activities across Washington County. Wearing masks inside, social distancing, regular hand washing, and expanded cleaning is still a critical part of keeping infection rates low – IT IS ALSO STATE LAW. By taking on these minor inconveniences, we can prevent a spike in infections which could force officials to slow down or even reverse the reopening process. The coronavirus has not gone away and we must stay vigilant until a vaccine is created. We all have a responsibility to do our part to help our economy reopen so that our many local businesses can survive and provide jobs for our citizens.
