Inspections

For your convenience, the Washington County Division of Permits & Inspections implements the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System to the contractors and citizens of Washington County, Maryland. By using a touch-tone telephone and calling 240-313-2488, callers are able to schedule inspections, cancel inspections, obtain results of inspections, check on the status of building permits and obtain County information by fax, twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week. We strive to make customer service our top priority within this department. We are proud to offer our customers these services because it will help make the process of construction not only more convenient but also more efficient.

The step by step brochure provided will guide you through the process. When using the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System, you must use the building permit activity number for information pertaining to building permits. Stand-alone permits for plumbing, mechanical, and electrical work must use the permit number assigned to the individual trade permit(s). Project numbers (numbers beginning with P) are not to be used for transactions on the IVR System. Inspections called in prior to 12:00 a.m. will be scheduled for the following business day.
