Washington County Releases Online FY2026 Operating and Capital Budget Book

WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD (August 4, 2025) – The Washington County Office of Budget and Finance is pleased to announce that the Fiscal Year 2026 Operating and Capital Budget Book is now available online through the official County website at www.washco-md.net.

This interactive digital resource provides residents, businesses, and stakeholders with comprehensive access to the County’s financial planning and strategic initiatives for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2026. The Budget Book is designed to enhance transparency, increase accessibility, and promote a deeper understanding of how public funds are allocated to serve the Washington County community.

The FY2026 Budget Book is organized into clearly defined sections that allow users to navigate the County’s financial framework and planning priorities with ease:

  • County Administrator’s Message – Offers insight into strategic goals, major accomplishments from the prior fiscal year, challenges faced, and key highlights of the FY2026 budget.
  • Organization and Community Profile – Features information about the Board of County Commissioners, County leadership, mission and vision statements, organizational structure, personnel summaries, and key demographic and economic data.
  • Operational Overview – Explains the County’s fiscal policies and budget process, including summaries of operating funds, revenue sources, and expenditure categories.
  • Capital Program and Debt Management – Provides an overview of capital improvement projects, debt affordability, and long-term infrastructure investments. A detailed Ten-Year Capital Improvement Plan (FY2026–FY2035) is also available on the Budget & Finance webpage.
  • General Fund – Highlights the County’s largest operating fund with department-by-department breakdowns, goals, performance indicators, funding sources, and expenditure summaries.
  • Highway Fund, Other Governmental Funds, and Enterprise Funds – Offers similar detailed analysis for additional County-operated funds.
  • Information and Resources – Includes FAQs, a glossary of budget terms, and contact information for County officials.

This user-friendly online tool enhances public engagement by providing intuitive navigation, quick access to financial data, and downloadable content for further review.
