The Office of Budget and Finance provides financial management and administration to the Board of County Commissioners and the County Administrator. This includes the formulation, execution, and oversight of multi-year operational and capital improvement budgets. We are responsible for the financial and accounting practices for all county operations, including but not limited to the management of available cash funds and investments, administrating debt and interpreting financial information. This also includes developing and implementing countywide financial policies and procedures, including financial and accounting control systems. We also oversee the operations of the Purchasing Department and Grant Management Department.

Mission

To efficiently and effectively manage the financial operations of Washington County Government by implementing sound budget and financial practices and policies, complying with regulations, providing fiscal accountability to stakeholders, and maintaining the ability to produce accurate and timely financial information.

To deliver services in an efficient, effective, and professional manner in accordance with applicable laws and government accounting standards by capable and well trained personnel and to be well respected and trusted by all those we serve.

LIBERAL LEAVE IS IN EFFECT FOR WASHINGTON COUNTY GOVERNMENT

Liberal leave is in effect for all non-essential personal on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, until noon. Essential personnel are expected to fulfill their duties as usual.

The starting time for today’s Board of County Commissioners meeting will be reevaluated at 9:00 am.

For those required to travel, exercise caution on the roadways. If driving is necessary, ensure your vehicle is completely cleared, drive at a reduced speed, practice caution, and avoid crowding or passing plows.
