WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD (September 8, 2026) – The Washington County Department of Water Quality will conduct smoke testing on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The testing is expected to be completed by 9:30 a.m.
The smoke testing will focus on the 17300 block of Diane Drive and the intersection of Allen Avenue. Residents and motorists in the affected area may see crews conducting testing activities during this time.
Smoke testing is a routine method used to identify potential issues within the sanitary sewer system, including areas where stormwater or other sources may be entering the system. Residents may notice smoke during the testing; the smoke used for this process is specifically designed for sewer system testing.
