Traffic Alert: Traffic Signal Outage at Hopewell Road Intersection

HAGERSTOWN, MD (September 8, 2026) – The Washington County Highway Department is working to repair the traffic signal at the intersection of Hopewell Road following an accident that caused the signal to become inoperable. The signal is expected to remain out of service for an extended period while repairs are completed.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area, expect delays, and use alternate routes whenever possible. Drivers traveling through the intersection should exercise extreme caution and follow directions from emergency personnel and roadway crews.

The Washington County Highway Department appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation while crews work to restore the traffic signal.
