PUBLIC NOTICE: Garretts Mill Road Bridge Opens to Traffic

HAGERSTOWN, MD (June 25, 2019) – The Washington County Division of Engineering announces Garretts Mill Road at the bridge over Israel Creek is now open to traffic, effective Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 4:30 p.m. This bridge suffered severe damage from the May 2018 flooding that impacted several roads and infrastructure in southern Washington County.

Director of the Division of Engineering, Scott Hobbs, says, “We would like to thank the local residents for their patience as the County has continued its recovery efforts in South County from the devastating flooding last spring that damaged many roads and bridges.”

County Administrator Rob Slocum says, “With patience and diligence, care and communication we are in a safer place today. Thirteen months after the South County Storm Event of 2018; this bridge represents a return to normalcy. Both for those using it and for all people who remember May 15th of 2018.”
