TRAFFIC ALERT: Detour on Interstate 68 at Creek Road

HAGERSTOWN, MD (March 26, 2024) – On behalf of Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration, Washington County, Maryland, hereby notifies the public of a scheduled detour on eastbound I-68 at Creek Road, starting from 6:00 PM on April 2nd, extending until 5:00 AM the following morning. This detour is necessary due to pavement failure on the eastbound lanes of I-68, requiring replacement.

The closure point for eastbound I-68 will be at Exit 77. Motorists traveling eastbound on I-68 will be directed to exit at Exit 77 and proceed on MD 144 through the town of Hancock. From there, they will be redirected onto eastbound I-70 at the 3-mile marker. A map of the detour route is available below.

In the event of adverse weather conditions preventing the work on April 2nd, the operation will be postponed to the following day. Any such postponement will be communicated promptly to the public.
