HAGERSTOWN, MD (September 4, 2020) – The Washington County Board of County Commissioners is seeking applicants interested in serving on the Planning Commission of Washington County.
Applicants must be a resident of Washington County. The Planning Commission meets on the first Monday of every month and occasionally has additional meetings as needed. Terms are for 5-year periods with a maximum of two full terms.
The Planning Commission is charged with reviewing and approving subdivision plats, forest conservation plans, site plans, and development plans. The Commission also acts in an advisory capacity to the Board of County Commissioners on items such as rezoning requests, ordinance text amendments, and adoption of other land use regulations and programs. The Planning Commission takes the lead role in development of the Comprehensive Plan. This document is updated on a 10 year cycle and acts as a basis for long and short term planning goals.
