| WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD (September 30, 2026) – The Washington County Department of Planning and Zoning, on behalf of the Historic District Commission, announces that nominations are now being accepted for the 2027 John C. Frye Historic Preservation Awards. Each May, as part of Preservation Month, the Board of County Commissioners recognizes three individuals, organizations or projects that exemplify best practices in each of three categories: historic resource preservation, historic resource advocacy, and historic resource adaptive reuse in Washington County. Since 1978, these awards have highlighted the outstanding efforts of our citizen stewards which have preserved Washington County’s rich historical and architectural heritage. Self-nominations or nominations of another candidate are permitted in each category. To be eligible the project location or advocacy activities should be located primarily in Washington County. All applications must be submitted by October 30, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. |
