Washington County, MD Celebrates National Ag Day 2022!

Washington County, MD Celebrates National Ag Day 2022!

HAGERSTOWN, MD (March 22, 2022) – National AG Day is celebrated on March 22 every year recognizing that everything we eat is produced and provided by agriculture. So today, March 22, we applaud all the people who work hard to feed the world, look after crops and livestock and contribute to agricultural production.

You should each take a few moments to first thank a farmer and second to learn about the food and fiber in our everyday lives. The agricultural community provides us with safe, abundant and useful products. Agriculture also is a major economic driver in Washington County, Maryland, producing over $153,725,000 in market value of products sold.

In an effort to provide information about agriculture to citizens at their fingertips, the County has created an Agritourism app. This app provides insight into what fruits and vegetables are in season, local farms, farmers’ markets, and information about agriculture. Download the app today on Google Play or the App Store.

Washington County Agricultural Business Specialist Leslie Hart says, “Washington County is rich in agricultural history with over 900 working farms in our county. So please stand up with me and thank our farmers, our neighbors, and the givers for a safe food supply. God Bless the farmer. “
