UPDATE TRAFFIC ALERT: Road Closure on Spielman Road

HAGERSTOWN, MD (August 12, 2021) – The Washington County Highway Department shares the following road closure on behalf of the Maryland Department of Transportation – State Highway Administration.
 
Norfolk Southern Railroad is planning to close MD 63 (Spielman Road) to repair a portion of the tracks. The proposed detour is now scheduled for Friday, August 13, 2021, from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The work is located at mile point 1.43, in between the intersections of MD 632 (Downsville Pike) and MD 65 (Sharpsburg Pike). The detour route can be found below.
 
Proposed detour routes:
 
  • MD 63 SB Traffic will be directed to NB MD 632, turn right/East at the MD 68 intersection. Proceed to the intersection of MD 65, turn right/South on MD 65. Detour ends at the intersection of MD 63.
 
  • MD 63 NB Traffic will be directed to NB MD 65, turn left/West onto MD 68. Proceed on MD 68 to MD 632 intersection and turn left/South on MD 632. Detour ends at the MD 63 intersection.
 
The County encourages drivers to proceed with caution while in this area.

LIBERAL LEAVE IS IN EFFECT FOR WASHINGTON COUNTY GOVERNMENT

Liberal leave is in effect for all non-essential personal on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, until noon. Essential personnel are expected to fulfill their duties as usual.
