TRAFFIC ALERT: Partial Closure of Boonsboro Mountain Road – Detour Planned

BOONSBORO, MD (March 25, 2025) – The Washington County Highway Department advises motorists of a temporary detour for a partial closure of Boonsboro Mountain Road beginning March 31, 2025 to accommodate necessary roadwork. Drivers are encouraged to follow the designated detour route to minimize disruptions.

Detour Route:

  • From Boonsboro Mountain Road at Route 40: Travel west on Route 40, turn left onto Route 66 (at Sheetz), continue on Route 66 to Old Route 40, turn left, and follow posted detour signs.
  • From Downtown Boonsboro: Travel west on Old Route 40, turn right onto Route 66, continue on Route 66 to Route 40, turn right, and follow posted detour signs.

Motorists should allow extra time for travel and remain alert for detour signs along the route. We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during this period.
