Maryland Department of Transportation Discusses Transportation in Washington County

HAGERSTOWN, MD (October 3, 2019) – The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT)Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA)MDOT Motor Vehicle AdministrationMDOT Maryland Transit Administration, and MDOT Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) joined with Washington County Government and local officials to discuss transportation throughout the state and county. The meeting held at Washington County Free Library was part of MDOT’s Consolidated Transportation Program (CTP) Annual Fall Tour where MDOT meets with each County in the State of Maryland to share the Draft Consolidated Transportation Program. Washington County Board of County Commissioner President Jeffrey Cline and Commissioner Randy Wagner were in attendance to welcome state officials.
County Administrator Rob Slocum said, “Public Safety on Interstates 70 and 81 are among our largest concerns shared with MDOT. The County looks to advance Interstate safety and incident response with state partnerships and federal assistance. The new public safety training center presents an opportunity for state and local government to take a proactive approach to incident response. We’ve advanced projects like Crayton Boulevard, the Professional Boulevard Bridge, Colonel Henry K. Douglas Boulevard and Halfway Boulevard with state and federal funding partnerships. We can do more together with the new Public Safety Training Center.”
