**TRAFFIC ALERT**

DRAINAGE AND BRIDGE MAINTENANCE WORK CONTINUES ON EASTBOUND I-70 RAMP TO US 40 (EXIT 9) IN WASHINGTON COUNTY
Ramp to be Closed, Detoured 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, April 3 to Friday, April 7; Motorists Should Plan Extra Travel Time

(March 30, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will continue a project to improve drainage and the driving surface of the eastbound I-70 bridge (ramp) to US 40 (National Pike) (Exit 9) in Indian Springs beginning Monday, April 3. To safely perform the work and expedite the repairs, the bridge will be closed and detoured daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday, April 7, weather permitting. No lane closures will occur on either direction of I-70.

Drivers will be detoured during work hours and will be guided to exit 12/MD 56 (Big Pool Road) and back to US 40. Signs, cones, and barrels will be used to navigate motorists through the work zone.

Concrete General, Inc. of Gaithersburg will be preforming the work. The State Highway Administration is aware that lane closures and detours are inconvenience, but the work will extended the service life of the roadway. Drivers are asked to slow down through the work zone for the safety of all drivers and the crews working to improve our roadways.

As the spring season arrives, drivers are urged to keep an extra vigilant eye for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorcyclists. Remember, motorcycles can hide in vehicle blind spots. Look twice and save a life.
