Washington County Office of Grant Management Accepting Applications for the Appalachian Regional Commission Grant Program

HAGERSTOWN, MD (February 13, 2026) – The Washington County Office of Grant Management is now accepting project proposals for the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) Grant Program for Fiscal Year 2027. The submission deadline for project proposals is April 3, 2026.

This federally funded program provides grants to eligible entities for projects that advance one or more of the following goals:

Economic Opportunities – Strategies to strengthen Appalachia’s economy through entrepreneurship and business development.
Ready Workforce – Initiatives to improve the education, skills, knowledge, and health of residents for success in the workforce.
Critical Infrastructure – Investments in broadband, transportation, water, and wastewater systems.
Natural and Cultural Assets – Projects that leverage the Region’s natural and cultural heritage to strengthen community and economic development potential.
Leadership and Community Capacity – Programs that develop current and future leaders and build organizational capacity to advance community and economic development.

ARC grants require a 50% match, with matching funds identified and committed at the time of application. Projects should demonstrate measurable outcomes and/or economic impact.

Project Proposal Submission Process:
Submit a Preliminary Project Description and ARC Project Budget and Funding Sources forms to the Office of Grant Management.
Proposals are reviewed and ranked by the Washington County Commissioners.
County-ranked projects are submitted to the Tri-County Council for Western Maryland for regional ranking.
Top-ranking projects receive a letter in early Fall inviting submission of a formal ARC grant application, due in November.
