Washington County Burn Ban to Remain in Effect

Washington County, MD (March 31, 2025) – The Washington County Board of County Commissioners announces that the countywide burn ban remains in effect. Officials will continue to monitor weather conditions and reevaluate the ban on Friday, April 4, 2025, to determine if it should be lifted or extended further.

Continued dry conditions have kept fire risk elevated, making it necessary to keep the burn ban in place to protect public safety and prevent potential wildfire outbreaks.

All outdoor burning is prohibited, including:

  • Campfires
  • Open fire pits
  • Burning of debris & brush
  • Agricultural burns

Residents are urged to comply with the burn ban and refrain from any outdoor burning activities to reduce the risk of uncontrolled fires.

For further information or updates on the burn ban, please contact Washington County’s Public Relations and Marketing Department at 240-313-2380 or [email protected].
