Transit 101: How to Ride Washington County Transit

What is Washington County Transit?

Washington County Transit is the public transportation system operated by Washington County Government. WCT offers: Fixed-Route Bus Service (County Commuter), and ADA Complementary Paratransit Service for eligible riders Our mission is to provide safe, dependable, accessible transportation that improves mobility and quality of life in our community.

Quick Start: Riding WCT in 5 Easy Steps

Find your route and schedule on our website or in the Passio Go! app.

Arrive at your bus stop 5-10 minutes early.

Board the bus and pay your fare. Ride safely and follow posted rules. 

Pull the stop cord or button before your stop.

Tip: If you’re unsure, ask the bus operator – they’re happy to help!

Fixed-Route Bus Service: How It Works

Fixed-route buses follow set routes and schedules. This means:

  • Buses travel the same path every day
  • Stops are located at designated bus stops
  • Buses arrive at scheduled times

Step-by-Step: How to Ride the Bus

  1. Plan Your Trip
    • Check route maps and schedules on our website
  2. Use the Passio Go! app to see where your bus is in real time
  3. Arrive Early
    • Arrive at your bus stop 5–10 minutes before the scheduled time
  4. Board the Bus
    • Have your fare ready before boarding
    • Let the operator know if you need assistance
  5. Ride Safely
    • Stay seated or hold onto handrails
    • Follow posted rules and operator instructions
  6. Exit the Bus
    • Pull the stop cord or push the stop button before your stop
    • Exit through the rear door when possible 

Rider Rules & Etiquette

To keep buses safe and comfortable for everyone:

  • Be courteous to operators and fellow riders
  • Keep aisles clear
  • Use headphones for personal audio
  • Follow posted safety signs
  • Food and drink rules may apply

Operators are responsible for safe operation of the bus and may enforce rules as needed.

Fixed Route Fares

Fares are collected when you board the bus. Exact fare is appreciated, as operators do not make change.

Adult Fare: $1.25

Senior / Disabled (with valid ID): $0.95 peak $0.60 off-peak

Student Fare: $0.85

Children Under Age 5: Free (with paying adult)

Payment options may include cash or approved fare programs. Check current schedules for fare details.

When Do Buses Run?

Fixed-Route Service Hours

Monday–Friday: 6:15 AM – 9:15 PM

Saturday: 7:45 AM – 9:15 PM

Sunday: No service

Schedules may vary by route. Always check the latest schedule before traveling.

Using Passio Go! Real-Time Bus Tracking

Passio Go! lets you track your bus in real time using your smartphone or computer. With Passio Go!, you can: – See where your bus is right now – Check estimated arrival times – View routes and stops Passio Go! helps reduce wait times and uncertainty, especially during busy travel periods.

ADA Paratransit Service

ADA Paratransit is a shared-ride, curb-to-curb service for individuals who are unable to use fixed-route buses due to a disability. Key Paratransit Information Riders must be certified ADA-eligible Service operates within ¾ mile of fixed routes Trips must be scheduled in advance Service hours mirror fixed-route service Paratransit eligibility, applications, fares, and scheduling information are available on the Paratransit section of our website.

Lost & Found

If you leave an item on a WCT bus:

  • Contact Washington County Transit as soon as possible
  • Items turned in are held for a limited time

WCT is not responsible for lost or stolen items, but staff will assist when possible
