Board of County Commissioners Schedule Additional Public Hearing

HAGERSTOWN, MD (May 21, 2019) – During the Board of County Commissioners regularly scheduled May 21, 2019 meeting, the board came to a consensus to schedule a public hearing for June 4, 2019 at 6:00 p.m.

This public hearing has been scheduled due to the fact that if an increase in the local income tax is proposed, the County shall hold a public hearing on the matter, along with a fair summary of the proposal act, ordinance or resolution to increase the income tax rate above the current 2.8%. The County provided this at the Budget Hearing held on May 14, 2019 for an increase to 3.0%. However, the FY2020 budget proposal has increased to 3.2% which means a public hearing for the 3.2% income tax rate must be held.

The public hearing will be held at 100 W. Washington Street, Suite 1101, Hagerstown, MD at 6:00 p.m.
