TRAFFIC ALERT: Road Closure on Bottom Road

HAGERSTOWN, MD (August 11, 2023) – The Washington County Division of Engineering announces an upcoming road closure on Bottom Road, spanning from Route 68 at the tannery to the railroad tracks at the Martin Marietta quarry. This temporary closure is scheduled to take place from Monday, August 14, 2023, to Friday, August 18, 2023, with closure hours between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day, weather permitting.

As part of the County’s Fiscal Year 2023 Pavement Maintenance Program, this road closure is essential to facilitate significant roadway improvements, including milling and asphalt overlay. These enhancements are designed to ensure safer and smoother travel for all users, contributing to the overall quality of our local infrastructure.

During the specified closure period, Bottom Road will be closed to through traffic to accommodate the necessary roadwork. The project’s primary focus is the enhancement of the road’s condition through meticulous milling and a high-quality asphalt overlay. These efforts align with our ongoing commitment to uphold and improve the road network that serves our community.

Access During Closure:

  •  Local resident traffic will be granted access to Bottom Road.
  • Emergency services will maintain access for swift response in case of emergencies.
  • Postal service deliveries will continue unaffected.
