| HAGERSTOWN, MD (September 22, 2025) – The Washington County Board of County Commissioners is currently seeking interested applicants to serve on the Washington County Planning Commission.
The Planning Commission plays a vital role in shaping the future growth and development of Washington County. Responsibilities of the Commission include the review and approval of:
- Subdivision plats
- Forest conservation plans
- Site and development plans
In addition to these duties, the Planning Commission serves in an advisory role to the Board of County Commissioners on matters such as:
- Rezoning requests
- Ordinance text amendments
- Adoption of land use regulations and programs
The Planning Commission also leads the development of the Comprehensive Plan, a critical document updated every 10 years that outlines long- and short-term planning goals for the County.
