- HGR Safety Drill
Hagerstown Regional Airport (HGR) is seeking volunteers to participate in a full-scale simulated aircraft emergency disaster exercise on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The exercise is designed to evaluate and strengthen the emergency response capabilities of Hagerstown Regional Airport and the agencies and organizations that would respond to a real aircraft emergency. Volunteers will play an important role by portraying passengers and other individuals involved in the simulated incident, allowing participating agencies to test emergency operations from the initial response and medical management through passenger accountability, tracking, and reunification.
Participants will have the opportunity to work alongside Washington County’s emergency response partners, including Fire & Rescue and other supporting agencies and organizations. The exercise will provide responders and partner agencies an opportunity to practice coordination, communication, triage and patient care, passenger tracking, and reunification in a realistic training environment.
Hagerstown Regional Airport conducts a full-scale simulated emergency exercise once every three years as part of its ongoing commitment to emergency preparedness and operational readiness.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, and no prior experience is required. Participants should be aware that clothing may become damaged during the exercise and should dress accordingly. Snacks and refreshments will be provided to all volunteers.
Those interested in participating are encouraged to register in advance by clicking the button below.
This exercise provides an important opportunity for community members to support local emergency preparedness efforts while helping first responders and partner agencies strengthen their ability to respond effectively in an emergency.
Community volunteers are an essential part of making this exercise a success. Hagerstown Regional Airport encourages eligible residents to participate and help support the continued safety and preparedness of the Washington County community.
