WASHINGTON COUNTY BURN BAN TO REMAIN IN EFFECT FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER WEEK DUE TO DRY CONDITIONS

Washington County, MD (March 24, 2025) – The Washington County Board of County Commissioners announces that the countywide burn ban will remain in effect for at least another week due to ongoing dry conditions and a forecast with minimal rain. Officials will continue to monitor weather conditions and reassess the ban on Monday, March 31, 2025, to determine if it should be lifted or extended further.

With little precipitation expected this week, fire risk remains elevated, and extending the burn ban is necessary to protect public safety and prevent potential wildfire outbreaks.

All outdoor burning is prohibited. Prohibited activities include:

  • Campfires
  • Open fire pits
  • Burning of debris & brush
  • Agricultural burns

Residents are urged to comply with the burn ban and avoid any outdoor burning activities to prevent the risk of uncontrolled fires.

For further information or updates on the burn ban, please contact Washington County’s Public Relations and Marketing Department at 240-313-2380 or [email protected].
