Planned Power Outage in Town of Williamsport

HAGERSTOWN, MD (July 29, 2019) – The Town of Williamsport will conduct the second of three planned power outages on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 to upgrade electrical service. The outage will only impact properties inside of town limits. Work is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. and may last up to 8-10 hours.

Due to the warm temperatures forecasted on Wednesday, the Washington County Division of Emergency Services, in cooperation with the Williamsport Volunteer Fire and EMS Company, will setup a cooling center at 2 Brandy Drive, Williamsport, MD 21795, during the outage. Town of Williamsport officials have advised residents to also use the Town Council Chambers as a cooling center.

Residents are encouraged to keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed, charge cell phones prior to the outage, stay hydrated, seek cool places, and recognize the symptoms of heat-related illness. If symptoms are recognized, residents should seek emergency medical treatment immediately.
