Clean County Street Sweeper Collects Over 500,000 Pounds of Material

HAGERSTOWN, MD (June 7, 2019) – The Washington County Division of Environmental Management is excited to announce the Clean County street sweeper is well on its way to hitting the million pound milestone. In only 4 months of sweeping the streets of Washington County, over 500,000 pounds of debris and trash has been collected. This collection effort is part of the Clean County Initiative that promotes Clean Streets, Clean Streams, Clean County.

County Administrator Rob Slocum commented on the achievement of this milestone, “In a few short months, the Clean County Team has now collected over 500,000 pounds of litter and debris in our County! That’s 500,000 pounds that will not be going into our streams or our groundwater. Making Washington County a better place to Live, Work, and Play!”
