Swift Water Boat Training to Take Place at Devil’s Backbone This Weekend

HAGERSTOWN, MD (April 21, 2025) – Washington County Division of Emergency Services (DES), would like to inform the public that swift water boat training will be conducted in the area of Devil’s Backbone Park on Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27, 2025.

This is a planned training exercise, not an emergency response.

Residents and visitors may notice increased activity in and around the water during this time, including boats, rescue personnel, and equipment. This exercise is part of ongoing training efforts to ensure that emergency responders are fully prepared for swift water rescue situations.

We appreciate the public’s understanding and cooperation as our teams work to enhance their skills and readiness.
