Important Notice Regarding January 2026 Tax Reminder Notices

HAGERSTOWN, MD (January 26, 2026) – The Washington County Treasurer’s Office has identified a software issue that affected some taxpayers who paid their property taxes by July 31, 2025.

Due to a problem in the County’s tax processing system (MUNIS), the 0.5% early payment discount was not properly applied to certain accounts, even though payment was made on time. As a result, those accounts later generated January 2026 reminder notices showing a small balance due equal to the missed discount amount.

What taxpayers need to know:

If you paid your taxes in full by July 31, 2025, no additional payment is required at this time.
The Treasurer’s Office is actively working to correct the affected accounts.
Once corrected, accounts will reflect the proper discount and show a zero balance.

We apologize for any confusion this may have caused and appreciate your patience as we resolve the issue.

If you have questions or believe you were affected, please contact the Treasurer’s Office at 240-313-2110 or [email protected]
