Free Scrap Tire & Goodwill Collection Event

HAGERSTOWN, MD (October 11, 2023) – The Washington County Department of Environmental Management announces that there will be a free scrap tire day on October 14, 2023, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Forty West Landfill. This event is provided for Washington County residents only and there is no charge to drop off up to ten tires for residents of the same household. Passenger and light truck tires will be accepted on or off the rim. Participants will be required to show a valid driver’s license with a Washington County address and may make one trip to the event. No tires will be accepted from commercial entities. Please follow the signs to the designated drop-off area.

Goodwill will also be on site from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to collect items in good, used, and new condition. Please note that if the Goodwill staff finds any item(s) unacceptable, the owner will need to either pay to have it dumped or take the item(s) back home.

This program is funded and limited by the Maryland Department of the Environment and Maryland Environmental Service. Once the limit of tires set by the State has been collected, tires will be accepted and processed at the regular residential disposal rate at $162 per Ton.

Forty West Landfil is located at 12630 Earth Care Road, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740.
