Hagerstown Regional Airport’s Fire Department (Station 35) was established in 1996. Since that time, the department has upgraded to Index B status and provides Crash, Fire, Medical First Response and Rescue services for Allegiant’s scheduled airline flights and for the entire 700+ acre airport property. On occasion, the department also assists with off-airport emergencies upon request.

Constructed in 2010, the fire station is located next to the Showalter Road terminal and consists of three apparatus bays, offices, full kitchen, day room and a training room that seats up to 50 students. The airport has five full-time and seven part-time firefighters. Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting (ARFF) services are available during airline operations and at other times with prior notice and approval (PPR) by calling (301) 988-2193 or (240) 313-2777.

The Airport Crash Rescue Fleet consists of a 2014 E-One Titan Force “35-1” (1,500 gallons), 2005 E-One Titan “35-2” (3,000 gallons), 2004 Crimson Spartan Mass Casualty Truck “Unit 35”, and a 2014 Ford F-250 Support Unit/Fire Chief’s vehicle.

All firefighters are trained to meet and maintain FAA Part 139 requirements including monthly courses and an annual “live burn” exercise. Additional mutual aid support is provided by Maugansville Goodwill Volunteer Fire Company and other departments within Washington and Franklin counties.
