USDA Announces ‘Pandemic Response and Safety Grant’

HAGERSTOWN, MD (October 12, 2021) – The Washington County Department of Business Development announces another agricultural grant is open to food processors, distributors, farmers markets, and producers. The Pandemic Response and Safety Grant from the USDA began accepting applications on October 6, 2021. The minimum funding request is $1,500 and the maximum amount is $20,000. No cost-sharing or matching funds are required. The application period ends on November 22, 2021. 
 
This grant covers activities associated with workplace safety, implementing market pivots such as online platforms, retrofitting facilities, providing additional transportation, worker housing, and providing health services to protect workers. 
 
“COVID-19 has had a huge impact on agricultural organizations and this is a great grant to assist farmers in recovering pandemic costs, “ said Leslie Hart, Business Development Specialist for Washington County Department of Business Development.
