Washington County Vaccination Update: February 18, 2021

COVID-19 Vaccination Update

VACCINATION UPDATE

VACCINE AVAILABILITY
Governor Hogan has directed state health officials to provide county leaders with four-week projections for vaccine allotments for their local health department clinics. For the weeks 2/15/21 – 3/8/21, the Washington County Health Department is expected to receive 500 doses each week. This is the amount projected to be allocated to the Washington County Health Department, but that could change based on what the federal administration provides Maryland.

Out of the Washington County Health Department’s weekly vaccine allocation, requirements of allocation include:
  • set aside at least 100 doses per week from their overall allocation for Phase 1B educators in their jurisdiction until they have vaccinated their educators
  • Vaccinate at least one independent living facility/community a week, in partnership with its local area agency on aging; and
  • Vaccinate at least one congregate living facility for people with disabilities (IDD or BH) or a DDA-funded provider that serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) a week.
  • Prioritize those 65 and older

For the last several weeks, the Health Department has been holding vaccine clinics for congregate living facilities, educators, seniors, and those in Phase 1A who have not been vaccinated yet. The Health Department continues to schedule clinics for these priority groups, however, it will take several weeks and potentially months to schedule clinics for all facilities and groups due to the limited amounts of doses being received.

If you are living in a congregate living or independent living facility, please be patient. The Health Department is actively working with management at these facilities to schedule clinic dates. Once dates are set and registration information is available, your facility’s management will provide details for the clinic so you can make an appointment.

CLINIC LOCATIONS

SENIOR ASSISTANCE HOTLINE

Washington County’s Senior COVID Vaccine Call List Assistance Hotline has been very active over the past week. Over 1,000 seniors have registered to be placed on the call list with Meritus Health.

Many residents who have already registered with Meritus Health are calling this hotline to see where their name is on the list. Please note that these types of calls will not be returned. This toll-free hotline is ONLY for seniors 65 and older who do not have internet access and need assistance signing up for the COVID-19 vaccine call list form.

If you have registered with Meritus, please know your name is on the list and they are working through the list as quickly as possible. The vaccine supply cannot meet the current demand of those wanting to get the vaccine. Please be patient as the County waits to receive additional doses of the vaccine.

If you are 65 and older and have completed a vaccination appointment request form online, please know that you are on the call list. To receive additional information, you can call the COVID-19 Vaccine Information Hotline at 1-833-285-2804 to receive the latest updates.

Regular updates will be posted on the Washington County Government website at https://www.washco-md.net/coronavirus-info/vaccine/ and social media platforms.
