Washington County Announces Conclusion of Free Mulch Giveaway at Forty West Landfill

HAGERSTOWN, MD (January 15, 2026) – Washington County Government announces that the Free Mulch Giveaway at the Forty West Landfill has concluded, as the available supply has now been fully exhausted.

The free mulch program was offered to help manage the large volume of yard debris generated by storms and to provide residents with an opportunity to reuse organic material in an environmentally responsible way. During the course of the program, the Forty West Landfill distributed approximately 115 tons of mulch to County residents. Washington County appreciates the strong community response and participation throughout the duration of the program.

While the free mulch supply is no longer available, mulch remains available for purchase at the Forty West Landfill at the regular rate of $30 per ton.

For more information, please contact the Forty West Landfill at 240-313-2790.
