Washington County Public Works Partners with the University of Maryland Design Center for Community Workshop at Fort Ritchie

HAGERSTOWN, MD (October 10, 2024) – Washington County Public Works, in partnership with the University of Maryland Design Center for Environmental and Community Health, invites the public to participate in a workshop focused on fostering an active and connected community. The workshop will explore ways to improve bike and pedestrian connections and facilities in the Cascade and Fort Ritchie Communities.

The community meeting will be hosted by the Fort Ritchie Community Center on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 3:00 PM. This collaboration provides an opportunity for senior landscape architecture students from the University of Maryland to engage with real-world challenges, receive public input and feedback, and offer potential solutions. The students will present their findings and proposals to the community during a final presentation at the Fort Ritchie Community Center on December 4, 2024, at 3:00 PM.

Depending on the circumstances, the proposed ideas may lead to future engineering and implementation of projects under Washington County Government’s purview.
