Washington County Division of Permits and Inspections/Office of the Fire Marshall to Host Community Fire Education and Inspection Meeting

HAGERSTOWN, MD (March 20, 2026) – The Washington County Division of Permits and Inspections/Office of the Fire Marshall will host a Community Fire Education and Fire Inspections Meeting on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Washington County Public Safety Training Center.
This informational meeting is designed to provide guidance regarding fire code requirements, inspection procedures, life safety system compliance, and interagency coordination. The session supports Washington County’s ongoing commitment to public safety, regulatory consistency, and proactive communication with the business and contractor community.
The meeting is intended for general construction and trade contractors; sprinkler, fire alarm, life safety, and exhaust hood suppression contractors; permit consultants; and special event coordinators, including those managing circuses, haunted attractions, festivals, and food truck events. Representatives of the Agricultural Center, Health Department, and Liquor License Board are also encouraged to attend.
Owners, operators, and managers of assembly occupancies—including worship facilities, entertainment and amusement venues, restaurants, food trucks, bars, nightclubs, organizational centers, and wedding venues—will benefit from attending. The session is equally relevant to those responsible for mercantile, business, industrial, warehouse, storage, and multi-family residential occupancies. Any non-residential structure equipped with fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, exhaust hood systems, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, or exit signage should ensure appropriate representation.
The discussion will address fire inspection expectations, common compliance issues, responsibilities of contractors and property owners, requirements for temporary events and assemblies, and proper maintenance and testing of life safety systems. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with staff to clarify requirements and promote consistent application of fire safety standards throughout the community.
