| HAGERSTOWN, MD (December 15, 2025) – The Washington County Board of County Commissioners (the “Board) is seeking applicants interested in serving on the Animal Control Authority. The purpose of the Animal Control Authority (the “Authority”) is to hear and decide cases referred by the animal control agency concerning the enforcement of the provisions of the Animal Control Ordinance for Washington County. The Authority consists of five (5) members appointed by the Board. All but one of the members must be a resident of Washington County. The Board shall make reasonable efforts to provide the following representation on the Authority, but lack of such representation does not invalidate or in any way compromise the validity of the Authority: one member who is a Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician; One member from the agricultural community; One member who is a member of the legal profession; One sworn officer from the Sheriff’s Department; and One member from the general public. The Authority may also have Two (2) or more alternate members. Members of the Committee may serve two (2), three (3) year terms, meeting the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. as needed. |
