| HAGERSTOWN, MD (June 18, 2025) – Washington County’s Department of Emergency Communications is proud to announce that Jamie Franks has been appointed by Maryland Governor Wes Moore to serve as the Western Maryland Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) Member on the Maryland 9-1-1 Board. Franks will represent the region’s emergency communications centers for the remainder of a four-year term that began on July 1, 2023.
The appointment, which becomes effective upon the administration of the oath of office, recognizes Franks’ leadership and dedication to public safety. She is expected to take her oath at the Washington County Circuit Court in the coming days. The Governor’s Office will submit her appointment to the Maryland State Senate for confirmation during the next legislative session.
In the official appointment letter, the Governor expressed appreciation for Franks’ commitment to public service and equity, writing, “Thank you for your commitment to advancing equity across our state and to serving the best interests of all of our residents. We look forward to partnering with you to leave no one in Maryland behind.”
As a member of the Maryland 9-1-1 Board, Franks will help guide the continued development of statewide 9-1-1 services, including the implementation of Next Generation 9-1-1 technologies. The Board plays a critical role in enhancing emergency communication systems to ensure a rapid and reliable response for all Marylanders.
