About the Coins

In the year 2026, the United States of America and Washington County will both celebrate the historic milestone of their 250th anniversaries. These commemorative coins will be available for resale through an online store launched by the Washington County Public Relations and Marketing Department, as well as at the July 4, 2026, celebration honoring both America’s and Washington County’s anniversaries. The coins represent the county’s rich history, resilience, and contributions to the nation’s founding—honoring the people, places, and events that have shaped Washington County over the past two and a half centuries.

Citizens will have the opportunity to travel around Washington County, visiting each municipality to collect the coins and complete the full set. The County will distribute its commemorative coin at the capstone event on July 4, 2026, along with a collector’s box, giving residents a way to celebrate the county’s 250th anniversary while engaging with the entire community. This initiative encourages exploration of the county’s towns, fosters a sense of connection to local history, and allows participants to create a tangible keepsake that represents the rich heritage of Washington County.
