The Washington County Recreation Department is dedicated to improving the quality of life of citizens of all ages and abilities.  The Recreation Department provides a wide variety of leisure activities, special events, facilities and services that encourage health, fitness, relaxation, enjoyment, and lifetime enrichment through opportunities and community involvement.

WASHINGTON COUNTY RECREATION DEPARTMENT

YOUTH SUMMER DAY CAMP PROGRAM 

Our Summer Youth Day Camps operate daily Monday - Friday for children 6 - 12 years old. Five year olds may attend camp if they have completed kindergarten. Children will participate in athletics, games, crafts, swimming and team building projects. Our day camps are an exciting, safe, and affordable option for summer fun. Occasionally campers will have the opportunity to swim, skate, visit other campsites, and be visited by special guests. Our qualified staff are annually trained on policy and procedure, fingerprinted/background checked and certified in CPR/First Aid. Our Summer Camps are a place for young people to get outside, get unplugged, and back to the best things in life — friendships, fresh air, discovery, accomplishments, and self-confidence. Washington County Summer Camp programs emphasize respect for others, fun, safety, responsibility, interaction and participation. Our summer campers make friends and feel good knowing they can just be themselves!

As a result from a cooperative agreement between the Washington Couty Publick Schools and the Board of County Commissioners three Community Recreation Centers were created located at Maugansville, Pangborn and Rockland Woods Elementary Schools.  These gymnasiums were expanded to allow recreational activities to be offered to the community outside of school operational hours.  These gyms are also available to the public for rent (time permitting) and for birthday parties.  For information, availability, and fees contact Community Recreation Center Coordinator Duc Trieu.
