The Division of Public Works consists of five departments with a approximately one hundred and sixty employees and an administrative office with a staff of three, including the Director and Real Property Administrator.

The Division of Public Works is responsible for:

Design and inspection of County highway projects
Review of commercial and residential development plans
Maintenance of County owned highways
Management of County owned construction projects
Operation and maintenance of County owned buildings, grounds and parks
Operation of the County's public transportation system
Maintenance of County's radio communication system
Acquisition of required right of way for County projects
Purchase, sale, and management of County owned property

To provide and maintain a safe, cost effective infrastructure and public transportation that enhances the quality of life in Washington County.
