The Division of Public Works consists of five departments with a approximately one hundred and sixty employees and an administrative office with a staff of three, including the Director and Real Property Administrator.
The Division of Public Works is responsible for:
- Design and inspection of County highway projects
- Review of commercial and residential development plans
- Maintenance of County owned highways
- Management of County owned construction projects
- Operation and maintenance of County owned buildings, grounds and parks
- Operation of the County's public transportation system
- Maintenance of County's radio communication system
- Acquisition of required right of way for County projects
- Purchase, sale, and management of County owned
property
Mission:
To provide and maintain a safe, cost effective infrastructure and public transportation that enhances the quality of life in Washington County.
