PROJECT UPDATE
August 29, 2008 Project Update:
Maugans Avenue Westbound Reconstruction:
The Contractor is continuing with work on the north side of Maugans Avenue to accommodate reconstruction of the proposed westbound lanes. This work on Maugans Avenue is currently occurring from US-11 (Pennsylvania Avenue) to Crayton Boulevard, and includes storm drain upgrades, the relocation of watermains, undercutting of soft materials, and placement of roadway stone. The placement of curb and gutter will soon follow.New Traffic Signal Work:
Signal work is occurring throughout the project for new traffic and pedestrian signals. At the US-11 intersection, new traffic signal poles, mast arms, and luminaire have been erected. The new signals at the US-11/Maugans Avenue/Longmeadow Road intersection are now activated, and the former traffic signals at this location have been removed.Reconfiguration of I-81 Northbound Off-Ramp:
Work has started on the reconfiguration of the referenced ramp, including the removal of the former grassed island. The right turn ramp will be shortened as part of this reconfiguration, and a new concrete island will be poured that is smaller in dimension than the former grassed island. Work is continuing at this location.US-11 (Pennsylvania Avenue):
Southbound Pennsylvania Avenue is to be widened in order to accommodate a right turn lane onto westbound Maugans Avenue. The limits of this work extend approximately 300-feet to the north of the intersection with Maugans Avenue.
