Road Work Update
County Road and Bridge Project Status
September 2007

Maugans Avenue Road Improvements - The Maugans Avenue Reconstruction Project consists of widening Maugans Avenue between US 11 and I-81 from the current two-lane section to a five-lane section (two lanes in each direction with a center turn lane), adding turn lanes at the intersection of Maugans Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue, extending Precision Place by approximately 350’ to the west of Mack Truck Road, installing traffic signals at both of the Interstate 81 off-ramps, and installing sidewalk on the south side of Maugans Avenue. The road will include a closed storm drain system, curb and gutter, and a stormwater management pond. C. William Hetzer, Inc. is under contract to construct the roadway improvements. C. William Hetzer, Inc. is currently on site and construction is underway. Additional information is provided via the project web site, which may be accessed via the link above or the County Home page.

Pavement Maintenance – 2008 SPRING Work – Beginning March 24, 2008 C. Wm. Hetzer, Inc. will continue the Pavement Maintenance Program (PMP) contract by performing patch, asphalt overlay and chip seal work on 65.4 miles of County roadway. This work is proposed to conclude by June 6, 2008. Please see the “2008 SPRING Road Maintenance List” (in PDF format) for specific details on individual roads.

ORDER OF WORK PLAN from C. Wm. Hetzer, Inc. - Start HMA patching March 24, 2008. We intend to patch all roads that get chip seal first.  Then move onto patch and overlay roads.  The following is a list of roads and the order in which we are going to proceed:
