The Washington County Planning Department is responsible for various aspects of land use planning. Some of the activities carried out by the department include Comprehensive Planning, Subdivision and Site Plan Review, Land Preservation Planning, Environmental and Parks Planning, and GIS Mapping Support and Data Services. The Planning Department also serves as support staff for the Planning Commission. For more information on any of these activities, click on the links to the left.
The mission of the Washington County Planning Department is to provide a framework for orderly, compatible, and fiscally responsible land use that protects our natural and cultural resources. To accomplish this mission, the planning staff coordinates a comprehensive program of short and long term planning goals with various public service agencies and the general public to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the current and future citizens of Washington County.
