EXPIRATION OF PERMITS
Time Limitation of Application: An application for a permit for any proposed work shall be deemed to have been abandoned six months after the date of filing, unless such application has been diligently prosecuted or a permit shall have been issued; except that the code official shall grant one or more extensions of time for additional periods not exceeding 180 days each if there is reasonable cause.
Permit Expiration: Building, plumbing, electrical and mechanical permits shall expire by limitation and become null and void if the work authorized by such permit is not commenced within six (6) months from the issuance of the permit, or if the work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at any time after the work is commenced for a period of six (6) months.
Permit Extension: A permittee holding an unexpired permit may apply for an extension, provided the permittee can show good and satisfactory reasons beyond control that the work cannot be commenced within the six-month period from the original permit issue date. A letter requesting the extension must be sent to the Director for review and a $25.00 extension fee will be charged for all granted extensions.
