Youth
Meritorious Award for Leadership and Service to Home, School and Community
Sponsored by the Washington County Community Partnership
for Children & Families
The Washington County Community Partnership for Children & Families (WCCP) is seeking nominees for the County’s Youth Meritorious Award (YMA). Each month, the County Commissioners present this award to a young resident of Washington County who has been selected by a special committee and approved by the County Commissioners. This program is only possible through your efforts in nominating a youth each month.
The YMA winners are chosen based on the following criteria:
- Scholastic Achievement
- Leadership Qualities
- Community Services
- Other positive characteristics and contributions
If you have contact with a young person with these qualities, please complete the application below. Please keep in mind that those nominated should be well-rounded youth. Thus, if your contact with your nominee is limited to one area of achievement in his or her life, you may need to approach other persons involved with your candidate that can speak to the other areas required for nomination. Consideration will be given to nominees from middle school through high school. Nominees from public schools, private schools and other youth-serving organizations will be considered. Please take the time to nominate a young person who merits this award.
Each nominee selected for the YMA will be recognized at a meeting of the County Commissioners. He or she will receive a US Savings bond in the amount of $100.00 and a Commissioner’s Certificate. Additionally, the recipients and their immediate family will be invited to attend the annual YMA awards banquet at the end of the academic year.
Applications will be accepted between September 1 and May 10 of the current school year. Thank you very much.
