What is Recyclable
Materials Accepted (two bin system)
- Mixed Paper: newspaper, junk mail, magazines, cereal box paper, phonebooks small flat sheets corrugated cardboard less than 2 foot square
- Commingled Material: food & beverage cans, green/brown/clear food & beverage glass bottles/jars, #1 & #2 rigid plastic containers
Materials Not Accepted
- No paper contaminated with food, oil, or grease
- No paper heavily coated with plastic
- No foam packaging
- No plastic bags, large plastic buckets or barrels
- No #3 through # 7 plastics
- No window glass or ceramics
- No wire or metal scrap
- No recyclable material from businesses

Please be clean!
Lightly rinse off recyclable containers
Do not place any material outside the recycling bin
Close doors after dumping in recyclables
Be careful not to drop glass or litterTry to deliver no than a one week accumulation of recyclables per visit
Cut cardboard into small flat sheets

Where To Recycle Other Materials
- Batteries (small rechargeable) : can be recycled at all County solid waste facilities
- Batteries (auto): Forty West Landfill
- Corrugated Cardboard: Union Rescue Mission
- Washington County Association of Retarded Citizens
- Maryland Paper
- Electronics: recycle at the Forty West Landfill (fee charged)
- Includes computers/attachments, televisions, radios, telephones
- Propane Tanks: recycle at the Forty West Landfill - 20 lb size only
- Refrigerators, air conditioners, water coolers: Forty West Landfill (fee charged)
- Tires: Forty West Landfill (fee charged)
- Scrap Metal: Forty West Landfill or private scrap metal dealers
- Used Motor Oil: all County Solid Waste facilities (5 gal per visit)
- Used Antifreeze: all County Solid Waste facilities (5 gal per visit)
- Yard Waste: Forty West Landfill (fee applies unless residential permit purchased)
- Leaves/grass, brush under 4 inches in diameter
