What is Recyclable
(Note: All Recycling Locations Are For Use By Washington County Residents Only. No Business Recycling Materials Accepted)
Materials Accepted at Green Recycling Drop Boxes
- Mixed Paper: newspaper, office paper, junk mail, magazines, cereal box paper, phonebooks, flattened cardboard no larger than 2 foot square. No photo paper.
- Commingled Material: food & beverage cans, glass bottles & jars, #1 & #2 rigid plastic containers. No oil bottles.
Materials Not Accepted
- No paper contaminated with food, oil or grease
- No paper heavily coated with plastic
- No foam packaging
- No plastic bins, buckets or barrels
- No #3 through #7 plastics
- No window glass, Pyrex or ceramics
- No wire or metal scrap
- No recyclables from businesses
Materials Accepted at Greensburg, Hancock, Dargan and Kaetzel Convenience Centers
- Mixed Paper: newspaper, office paper, junk mail, magazines, cereal box paper, phonebooks, flattened cardboard no larger than 2 foot square. No photo paper.
- Commingled Material: food & beverage cans, glass bottles & jars, #1 & #2 rigid plastic containers. No oil bottles.
- Separated Flattened Cardboard (no larger than 2 foot square)
- Used Motor Oil & Antifreeze (5 gallons per visit)
- Power Tool Rechargeable Batteries
- Scrap Metal (Greensburg & Hancock Sites Only)

- No paper heavily coated with plastic

- No plastic bins, buckets or barrels
- No #3 through #7 plastics

- Mixed Paper: newspaper, office paper, junk mail, magazines, cereal box paper, phonebooks, flattened cardboard no larger than 2 foot square. No photo paper.
- Commingled Material: food & beverage cans, glass bottles & jars, #1 & #2 rigid plastic containers. No oil bottles.
- Separated Flattened Cardboard (no larger than 2 foot square)
- Separated Magazines and Glossy Paper
- Used Motor Oil & Antifreeze (5 gallon per visit)
- Lead Acid Batteries (car, truck, yard equipment)
- Power Tool Rechargeable Batteries
- StyroFoam (clean white block only. No packing peanuts or food contact material)
- Kitchen Oil & Grease (5 gallon per visit)
- Scrap Metal (please drain oil & fuel if applicable)
- Propane Tanks (empty)
- Electronics including computers and attachments, regular and flat screen TV’s (no wood cabinets), VCR’s, CD/DVD players, PDA’s, radios, all phones, etc. (Fee applies).
- Refrigerators, freezers, A/C Units, water coolers (Refrigerant removal fee applies).
- Yard Debris less than 4 inches in diameter (Fee applies unless residential permit purchased).
- Tires (Fee applies).

Lightly rinse off recyclable containers
Do not place any material outside the recycling bin
Close doors after dumping in recyclables
Be careful not to drop glass or litter
Try to deliver
no more than a one week accumulation of recyclables per
visit
Cut cardboard into small flat sheets
Do not leave anything that is not accepted in the program.
